Are Milk Duds gluten free is a common question I’ve heard and one that I wanted to know when I first went gluten free. Milk Duds are one of those iconic candies we have had in our lives for so long and it would be heart breaking if somehow they had gluten in them.
Hershey’s Stance on Gluten Free
Hershey’s candy is not truly certified by an independent company such as the Gluten Intolerance Group. So you won’t see their nice little “Certified Gluten Free” logo on the box.
What you will see on Hershey’s gluten free candy is their own “Gluten Free” label. Their website spells out exactly what is gluten free very clearly. You can check it out here. The image below is direct off the Hershey’s website as well.

Are Milk Duds Gluten Free Then?
The short answer is Yes. Much like M&Ms, the company tries to be as transparent as possible, but I do wish they would get them certified. It would give the gluten free community a little peace of mind.

What Hershey’s Candy is Gluten Free?
So in addition to Milk Duds, Hershey’s has a vast selection of gluten free candy available. Most of their chocolates are gluten free. Reese’s peanut butter cups are gluten free and much more.
You would surprised at what is not gluten free, such as their York Peppermint patties minis. The full size are good to go, but the minis are not? Seems odd to me, why would they put wheat in the minis? Maybe someone in the manufacturing business can enlighten me!
With that said, Hershey’s does make the claim on their website to ensure you read the label each time you eat them. They say their ingredients are subject to change without notice but they seem to be confined in their gluten free labels.
