Let’s jump right into this one! You may be wondering… are Twizzlers gluten free? You are probably going to be surprised to find out that they are NOT gluten free!
I used to really enjoy Twizzlers. They make all kinds of flavors now and in various sizes. I used to really enjoy biting both ends and then turning it into a straw, who’s with me?!? but I digress… let’s get back on track!

Why are Twizzlers NOT gluten free?
At face value, you would think that Twizzlers would be gluten free. Why would there be wheat in a candy? Twizzlers were probably the most surprising candy that I found to have gluten when I first went gluten free. I mean really?! How is there gluten in Twizzlers?
Well, you can check out their ingredients and nutrition facts here, but unlike other Hershey’s brand candy, such as Milk Duds, one of their primary ingredients beside corn syrup is enriched wheat flour.
It does not get much more clear than that, they are not gluten free!

Are any types of Twizzlers wheat free?
So far none of the Twizzlers I have found are free from wheat or gluten. I’m sure there is some property of the wheat that Hershey’s needs in order to make their candy the way it is, but this is disappointing for sure!
Hershey’s does a good job in labelling their candy. It’s not certified gluten free like we would like, but I feel they do a decent job in transparency. The only concern I would have with some of their gluten free candy would be cross contamination. Are they manufacturing Twizzlers in the same area as their labelled gluten free candy such as Milk Duds and Your Peppermint Patties?
I am still searching for a solid answer on that one. If you know anyone who knows that answer or know yourself, leave a comment or shoot me an email!
