He looks too friendly to be angry! Am I right!? Just don’t let him smell your food… more below on that!
Gary was one of the first male gluten free blogs I saw when I was newbie IG’er, so I’m excited he took some time to answer the questions and put himself out there to connect with other gluten free men. Check out his story below!
1) Your story…tell us a little bit about yourself!
“My name is Gary, aka The Angry Coeliac. I was diagnosed with Coeliac disease 7 Years ago and have been blogging for the past year.”

2) Why do you eat gluten free food?
“I eat gluten free purely for my health, I have unbelievably bad reactions to Gluten and it’s really not worth the long term damage that it causes. I do tend to eat a lot of ready made gluten free products like bread and pasta for convenience especially when I am at work, but I do try to cook from scratch when preparing food at home.”

3) What is your favorite gluten free snack? Where can we find it?
“My favourite gluten free snack is always going to be savoury as I don’t have much of a craving for sweet things. My absolute favourite snack is 100% Kettle chips , they are readily available in most shops here in the UK , which is great as I can always grab a bag on the go if there is nothing else to eat.”
4) What’s your favorite gluten free recipe?
“My favourite gluten free recipe is one that my partner put together for Yorkshire puddings. In our house we love an evening meal of Toad in the hole hehe not sure if you have this in America but it’s a big deal here in the Uk, sausages cooked within a Yorkshire pudding covered in gravy….delicious.”
5) What’s one thing you wish you knew when first went gluten free?
“I wish somebody had told me not to try and replace the food that you enjoy and that you’ve grown up with. Gluten free food and recipes have come a long way over the years , but nothing can replace normal everyday food ie pizza, burgers, hotdogs. Try new things and create a new menu for yourself. If you’re a picky eater like myself just try and give everything a go, it’s the best thing I ever did, let go of all the junk food and embrace change.”

6) If you could only eat one gluten free meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
“I do have a slight weakness when it comes to pizza…Most of us do but I have recently found the best takeaway pizza that you wouldn’t even know was GF. They make it super safe and I have had no reactions, so happy days!”

7) What advice would you give someone who is about to go gluten free?
“My advice would be to take your time and don’t beat yourself up. You will make mistakes and this is a huge life change your about to embark on. Take the time to research what you need to do and treat this as a new life project that will make you healthier and change your life for the better.”
8) What’s your favorite thing about being gluten free?
“I’ll be honest I don’t have a lot of favourite things about being GF. I do find it really challenging still after all these years, but it’s given me a reality check in the sense that I am not invincible and my body has limits. We need to relearn everything we were taught about food and that’s no easy task. I suppose my favourite thing is I now have had to take time for ‘Me’ which is sometimes a hard thing to do.”

9) What is one thing you dislike about being gluten free and what do youdo to mitigate it?
“LOL this may sound crazy but bare with me ….. The smell of other people’s food drives me crazy. I’m not sure what it is, but I feel like my senses are now heightened and other people’s food just smells out of this world. If your gluten filled food comes out and it smells better than mine …..I will not be happy!”
10) How can other people find you
“All over social media I am The Angry Coeliac ( Twitter, FB, Insta) , I also have my own website www.TheAngrycoeliac.com where I try to impart a bit of knowledge and have a laugh along the way, I try not to take things to seriously but also this is a big deal.”
