The most comprehensive gluten free beer list and review is here!
The world of gluten free beer is growing! I’m almost two years into my gluten free journey and it seems like there have been more and more delicious gluten free beers popping up that I had not seen before.
One of my biggest concerns when I originally went gluten free was losing my favorite beer. What dad doesn’t like a cold beer when they’re getting in some yard work on a hot summer day or hanging out with friends?
What I Love About Gluten Free Beers
As I had mentioned previously, I was worried about the gluten free beer world. Man was I worried for no reason! What I love about gluten free beers is the taste. The gluten free beer market is small, but that means the brewmasters are working extra hard to make a great product. There are very few watered down gluten free beers like you might get from a Coors Light or Bud Light.
From what I have seen, gluten free beer companies are laser focused on emphasizing flavor. No complaints from this guy! I really do appreciate the effort from all the companies to brew the perfect gluten free beer.
The only down side I can see in gluten free beers is the price. Typically, gluten free beers are 2 to 3 dollars more expensive per six pack than their gluten filled counter parts. Not a show stopper, but hopefully prices will drop as demand increases. Only time will tell!
What Beers are Gluten Free? Comprehensive List of Gluten Free Beers!
So I want to complete a gluten free beer list. In this guide, I’m going to cover a few areas that concern us the most, such as taste, cost, and where we can get it! I’m also going do write down any notes.
The gluten free beers on this list are all beers that I have tasted personally and formed an opinion. Good, bad, or ugly… I’ll put down my thoughts here. What that means is the list is a living document. If I have not personally tried it, I won’t review it. No company has paid me to review their gluten free beers and I plan on keeping it that way!

Gluten Free Beer Versus Gluten Removed Beer
Before I get the list going, I want to clarify the difference between gluten free beer and gluten removed beer. There is a difference between true gluten free beer and gluten removed beer. True gluten free beer is brewed with no gluten containing ingredients from the start and typically certified as gluten free but not always. You will see gluten removed beer out there. What gluten removed means is typically they add an enzyme during the brewing process that eliminates or removes the gluten.
There has been some debate on gluten free beer and gluten removed beer. I have some friends who are Celiac and still have no issue with gluten removed beer and I have some Celiac friends who swear it still negatively impacts them.
I will leave it up to you to decide if you can consume a gluten removed beer. There are some good options out there and I’ve seen whole breweries such as Wooden Robot Brewery in Charlotte, NC have all their craft brews with the gluten removed. I will make a note next to anything I try that is gluten removed or not a true gluten free beer.
So here’s Gluten Free Dad’s Gluten Free beer List! In no particular order! check out the following gluten free beers and what I think about them!
Aurochs Blonde Ale

I just recently found Aurochs Brewing and boy am I happy! This blonde ale is precisely what you would expect a blonde ale to taste like. I mean spot on! It’s light and smooth with great flavor. Simply delicious.
This is a beer you could day drink, tailgate, BBQ, get yard work done, do your taxes, etc… All dad things can be done with this beer! Except drive and operate heavy machinery… don’t do that.
I’m excited to give the rest of Aurochs gluten free beer a try, and it won’t be long because I have a refrigerator full of them! Cheers!
Aurochs Amber Ale

This is another gluten free homerun from Aurochs Brewing Company! The flavor in this beer is perfect. Not too strong. Not to weak. Damn near perfect! Flavorful, smooth, and 5.5% all at the same time.
This is only the second gluten free beer I’ve tried from Aurochs so far, but they are sitting at the top of my list for a reason… and it’s not because they start with the letter “A”! Well done Aurochs!
Aurochs Porter

I’m going BIG with this gluten free Aurochs Porter. You are seeing that correctly… 4.9. Honestly I was expecting to not fall in love with this simply because dark beers have not been my favorite, but holy sh!t… How is this bold and smooth at the same time?!
I’m actually staring at my beer right now in awe. I saw chocolate and espresso on the can, and to be honest, as much as I love them by themselves, I have not in the past enjoyed them in my beers. I don’t know what your brew masters are doing over there at Aurochs… but those dudes need a raise!
Well done! I tip my hat to the Aurochs team!
Aurochs Light Lager

This gluten free light lager from Aurochs Brewing is going to change the game for all light beers. I’m talking out of all the “light” beers I’ve tried, to include gluten free and regular beer, this is the best. Drop the mic… clean and crips with delicious flavor. Not watered down.
This is the perfect gluten free beer pong beer. I could easily see myself playing beer pong in my neighborhood with this. Now you don’t have to dread drinking the cup of crappy Bud Light!
Oh… and it’s only 85 calories?!?! That’s only a few more than White Claw and you get to keep your man card while drinking a beer. Sign me up!
Aurochs Hazy IPA

Yes… I put an IPA down as a 4.99 out of 5. I really don’t know how Aurochs Brewing managed to do this, but they made a guy who traditionally does not prefer an IPA… love their IPA!
If I could have emotional feelings for a beer… this would be it! There is no wonder this won the 2020 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal Winner – Gluten-Free Beer category. To be honest, it probably would have won in every category.
I’m not really sure how to describe the taste other than simply magnificent. Aurochs says, “Dynamic tropical fruit flavor and aroma. The hops pack a punch to the nose with notes of papaya, mango, peach, and orange. A soft, pillowy mouthfeel that rests on your tongue. Extra quinoa for turbidity. Hazy and juicy. Brewed with millet, quinoa, buckwheat, hops, and yeast.”
It almost tastes like a wheat beer meets an IPA… in a love triangle with Blue Moon where you get a juicy piece orange squeezed in there by the bartender… too much?
I can’t put words to it. You gotta try it. You can thank me later!
Holidaily Brewing Favorite Blonde

Overall taste: 4.95/5
Cost: Gifted by my buddy Dave!
Purchase location: Kansas City
Website: Holidaily Favorite Blonde
This was my first time trying any of the Holidaily Brewing gluten free beers and I was blown away by this blonde! This is my favorite blonde at the moment. Super smooth and refreshing! Well done!
Did I mention that Holidaily is one for the few gluten free breweries in the US that is certified gluten free? That’s right, they are certified gluten free by my favorite people at the Gluten Intolerance Group!
Holidaily Brewing Big Henry Hazy IPA

Overall taste: 4/5
Cost: Gifted by my buddy Dave!
Purchase location: Kansas City
Website: Holidaily Brewing
What a solid IPA! I really enjoyed the tropical flavor to this gluten free IPA. It did not have that sour IPA bite you typically get. The color was incredible! Certified gluten free beer deliciousness!
You can’t go wrong with this Big Henry Hazy IPA!
Holidaily Brewing Fat Randy’s IPA

Overall taste: 3.9/5
Cost: Gifted by my buddy Dave!
Purchase location: Kansas City
Website: Holidaily Brewing
Another solid gluten free IPA! I like Holidaily’s hazy IPA a little more, but this is more of your traditional IPA. Still not bitter IPA tastes which is great!
I’m still not a huge IPA fan, but I would grab this in a heart beat. Smooth taste for an IPA and easy to drink while at 7%!? That’s gluten free beer winning right there!
Glutenberg White

Glutenberg White is my favorite gluten free beer right now. I gave it a 4.9 just because nothing is perfect and giving it a 5 would mean it could never get better. It’s damn close.
I really enjoy the taste of Glutenberg White. It’s super smooth. Not filling. Great flavor. I could drink this all day long. I have to be careful with this one. The variety of ingredients they put in it such as buckwheat, millet, amaranth (what is that?!), quinoa, hops, coriander, and orange peel is intriguing. That crazy combo of ingredients makes some damn good beer. I’d argue that this gluten free beer is better than any beer regardless of category. There! I said it! Prove me wrong, accepting all challengers!
Glutenberg Blonde

Overall taste: 4/5
Cost: $10.99 (4-pack tall boys)
Purchase location: Wegmans, Total Wine
Website: Glutenberg
Glutenberg Blonde is one of my go to gluten free beers. If I had to keep one beer stocked in the man cave refrigerator, it would be this Blonde from Glutenberg. It is a smooth gluten free beer that gives any “normal” beer a run for its money.
Glutenberg India Pale Ale

I’m not a huge IPA fan, but I really enjoy this gluten free IPA from Glutenberg. It doesn’t have that super strong tangy flavor you would expect from an IPA. It’s a great gluten free beer to give to a newbie or one of your friends who doubts the gluten free beer world.
Glutenberg Red Ale

I’m a huge fan of this Glutenberg Red Ale. It has really good flavor. In true Glutenberg fashion it has some different ingredients you don’t normally see in a beer such chestnut, candy syrup, and molasses. It has a very slight sweet tastes… and I mean ever so slight, but rich flavor you would expect from a red ale. You can’t go wrong with this gluten free red ale for any occasion. Another home run from glutenberg!
Glutenberg American Pale Ale

If George Washington was gluten free… he would be drinking this gluten free beer as he crossed the Potomac! When I first saw this Glutenberg American Pale Ale, I thought this would be a cheap knock off of Budweiser or Coors. I was wrong… this American pale ale…(brewed by French Canadians? lol) is smooth and refreshing. This is the kind of beer you keep in your refrigerator at all times and pass out to your buddies when they come to visit. I have yet to be disappointed by Glutenberg gluten free beers! No complaints here!
Ghostfish Brewing Company Vanishing Point Pale Ale

Overall taste: 4.5/5
Cost: $11.99 (4-pack)
Purchase Location: Online from their website via Marina Market
Website: Ghostfish
This was my first taste of Ghostfish gluten free beer. Ghostfish is well known in the gluten free community but they are on the west coast. I had dreamt of traveling to Seattle to sit in their tap house. All the social media posts I have seen make them look so delicious.
Well, this beer does not disappoint. Their pale ale is one of their flagship gluten free beers and I can tell why. It has great flavor and exactly what I had expected. Straight deliciousness!
I gave a 4.5 due to availability. I live in Virginia but they only ship to DC! Luckily my brother-in-law helped me out. The beer was a bit pricey for 4 beers and shipping wasn’t cheap, but it was worth it! I still plan to make the trip out west with Aimee to sit in their tap house and drink a few cold ones!
Ghostfish Grapefruit IPA

Overall taste: 4/5
Cost: $15.99 (6-pack)
Purchase location: Online from their website via Marina Market
Website: Ghostfish
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this grapefruit IPA. I’m not a huge IPA guy and I am not a grapefruit fan. I did however love this IPA. The grapefruit flavor is really light. It is almost unnoticeable. If you had given me a glass of this without knowing, I would not have guessed it had grapefruit. Well done Ghostfish Brewing!
Let’s talk about that price tag though… $16 for a 6 pack is entirely too high. Definitely disappointed in the price. I’m hoping that’s just the markup from Marina market. With adding shipping costs, it’s simply unaffordable.
Ghostfish Kick Step IPA

Overall taste: 4.9/5
Cost: $11.99 (4-pack)
Purchase location: Online from their website via Marina Market
Website: Ghostfish Kick Step IPA
Yes…a 4.9 out of 5! I will remind you I am not a big IPA guy, but damn this is good! This barely tastes like an IPA. If you are looking for that bitter traditional IPA bite, then you may be left wanting, however I thought this was amazing. I’ll put this in my top 3 gluten free beers category for sure!
Only downside was the price. Common trend with Ghostfish, but damn they brew some delicious beer!
Sibling Reverly Brewing Olly Olly Gluten Free

Overall Taste: 4/5
Cost: Unknown… my main man Gluten Free Dave on IG sent it to me!
Purchase Location: Dave’s house!
Website: Olly Olly Gluten Free
In a beer exchange, where I sent my friend Dave some beer, he sent this gluten free pale ale from Sibling Reverly Brewing. From what I can see, this is a regular brewery that brews this one craft gluten free beer as part of their big line up…. and they have a ton of beers.
I will say I am very happy with this gluten free pale ale! It’s more of an amber ale, so when I poured it, I was thrown off for a second…but after that first sip… all goodness! I appreciate a regular brewery giving the gluten free world some more options.
Y’all did a great job, keep it up!
Stone Delicious India Pale Ale (Gluten removed)

Overall taste: 4/5
Cost: $10.99 (6-pack bottles)
Purchase location: Wegmans
Website: Stone Delicious
This is a gluten removed IPA which tastes really good. I used to really enjoy Stone Brewing when I could drink normal beer. This is the only one that I’m aware of where they remove the gluten. I’m glad they did! At 7.7% this packs a little kick to it, so be careful because they go down pretty smooth!
Stone Brewing Feature and Benefits IPA (Gluten Removed)

Overall tast: 4/5
Cost: $10.99
Purchase location: gifted to me as part of the new campaign
Website: F&B IPA
Stone Brewing reached out to me and sent me this to try. I’ll be up front about that. This is the first time that’s happened with any beer on my list. I’m not complaining, who doesn’t like free beer?
It is Stone Brewing’s second gluten removed beer so keep that in mind. I was pleasantly surprised by this refreshing gluten removed beer! It is an IPA, but is such a light IPA taste and really smooth. This reminds me of a Michelob Ultra, but actually tastes like a beer. It’s a light IPA??? I didn’t know that would be a thing, but Stone has made it a thing. If you don’t like the normal strong IPA taste, you may like this.
This is a low calorie beer that is going to give other low calorie beers and welters like white claw a run for their money! I’m interested to see how this beer does on the market.
Redbridge

Redbridge is brewed by Anheuser-Busch and is what you would expect from a big time beer company. If you are missing your old Bud Light, then this might be a good option for you, but it just doesn’t have the flavor of most gluten free beer. It is the cheapest gluten free beer I’ve found, but has the least amount of flavor.
Green’s Triple Ale

This gluten free triple ale is packed with flavor! Wow this is a delicious gluten free beer! This is one of the first Green’s gluten free beers I’ve tried and I’m very impressed! The only downside is price. It’s a little pricey at $6.49 for a bottle, but definitely a sophisticated beer that would go with a meal or evening while cooking on the grill!
Green’s Discovery Gluten Free Amber Ale

This is exactly what I would expect from an amber ale. Lots of flavor, smooth taste… Damn… just an all around great beer. You can’t go wrong with this Green’s gluten free amber ale. The only down side is price. Almost $7 for a pint is one of the most expensive gluten free beers on the market. So you might not be tailgating on Sunday with these, but Green’s is a great beer for a nice dinner. It’s okay to class it up sometimes!
Green’s India Pale Ale
This gluten free IPA from Green’s is probably the best gluten free IPA I’ve tried. I’m not an IPA fan, but if I were, I’d be drinking this on the regular! Very smooth and the IPA after taste actually tastes pretty good. Very surprised at how good this is! You an IPA fan? Try this and let me know if I’m on target!
Green’s Enterprise Gluten Free Dry-Hopped Lager

As advertised, this Green’s gluten free dry hopped lager was dry and hoppy. Not my personal favorite type of beer, but it had solid taste and no bitter after taste which I was expecting. It almost has a light IPA feel. Given a selection of Green’s gluten free beers, this wouldn’t be my first choice, but it’s not terrible. However, for $7 per bottle, I’m going to shoot for the better Green’s gluten free beer choice if it’s available.
Green’s Dubbel Ale

This is hands down my favorite gluten free beer from Green’s. I didn’t know they won the gold award in 2017 until I saw the picture above, but I can see why. This gluten free beer is packed with flavor. For $7 a pint, you are getting your money’s worth with this. This is straight delicious! I should have bought more than two!
Omission Lager (Gluten removed)

This Omission Lager is not bad. It has a light taste, and like it says on the bottle, I would agree it is crisp. It is a gluten removed beer which is always controversial in the gluten free community, but if you are able to handle a gluten removed beer, then this is not a terrible option.
Omission IPA (Gluten removed)

This is a decent IPA overall. It is a gluten removed beer, so keep that in mind. It does not have that strong IPA bite or after tastes you might expect with an IPA. If an IPA could be smooth, then I would consider this IPA smooth.
Omission Ultimate Light Golden Ale (Gluten removed)

For only 3 carbs and 99 calories… this is a tasty light beer reminiscent of my Michelob Ultra days. It does has good flavor and is very smooth. If it wasn’t a gluten removed beer, I’d give it a 4, but that’s always in the back of my mind. If you can have gluten removed beers, this is probably my favorite from Omission at this point.
New Planet Pale Ale

Overall taste: 4/5
Cost: $10.99 6-pack cans
Purchase location: Total Wine
Website: New Planet Pale Ale
This was my first New Planet gluten free beer I’ve tried and I really enjoyed it. It’s a little hoppy, but not like an IPA. Maybe a step below an IPA? It’s delicious with a lot of flavor. I’m very excited to try out the other New Planet gluten free beers I have!
New Planet Blonde Ale

I may have just found a new go to gluten free beer! I really enjoyed this gluten free New Planet Blonde Ale. It was light and refreshing. Super smooth taste. Flavorful but not overbearing. I could imagine drinking a six pack of these during our Carolina Panthers tailgate parties on game day. This New Planet Blonde Ale gives Glutenberg a run for their money! Nothing wrong with some healthy competition in the gluten free beer world!
New Planet Tread Lightly Ale (Gluten removed)

This is another hit from New Planet. Keep in mind this is a gluten removed beer, but their website says they test under 5ppm. I would have to say this is the first gluten removed beer that I have tasted that does not taste like it is gluten removed. Not sure if that makes sense! haha. It tastes good. A light taste, but not a watered down taste. One word I’d use to describe this would be crisp. If you can handle gluten removed beer, this is a great option.
New Planet Seclusion IPA (Gluten removed)

I’m not an IPA kind of guy, but I do enjoy this gluten removed IPA from New Planet. It has just a small IPA “bite” to it, but is still pretty smooth. This was the fourth New Planet gluten free or gluten reduced beer I’ve tasted and I’m very pleased! If you can handle gluten removed beer and are looking for a good IPA, then this IPA from New Planet would be my recommendation.
St. Peter’s Sorgham Beer

I had high hopes for St. Peter’s Sorgham Beer. The bottle looks cool. It has a flask like appearance to it. I liked the simple ingredients listed and I liked the story from 1770, but the taste just wasn’t there. It came out flat and had almost no flavor. If the price were lower, it might make it more palatable, but it’s nearly $5 per bottle. Two times the cost of some really good gluten free beers on the market right now.
Bard’s Beer

Overall taste: 3.5 /5
Cost: $11.49 6-pack of cans
Purchase location: Total Wine
Website: Bard’s Beer
Bard’s gluten free beer is one of those gluten free beers that I have seen on social media and around the inter webs…but never seemed to get my hands on it. Before I tasted it, it seemed to have that “Simpson’s” vibe to it… you know “Drink Duff Beer” vibe. After drinking it it, I still do feel a little like Homer Simpson, but in a good way if that makes sense. I gave it a 3.5 out of 5 because it has a smooth “light beer” taste to it, but is definitely a gluten free beer for dads.
I can definitely see myself day drinking Bard’s while I cut the lawn and do various “dad” duties around the house. My outdoor deck needs to be stained in a few days…I’ll be drinking a Bard’s while I’m working. It’s that kind of beer in my mind. It is ever so slightly more expensive, but it’s maybe 50 cents higher in cost. Overall, very happy I have another six pack lined up for when I get to staining my deck this weekend!
Brunehaut Belgian Band Ale (Gluten removed?)

Overall taste: 3/5
Cost: $14.99 4-pack bottles
Purchase location: Total Wine
Website: Brunehaut
Brunehaut Belgian Blond Ale has me a little puzzled…I do like it. It has a very natural “feel” to it… earthy maybe? There are little things floating in it (I’m sure there is a technical term for that) which don’t have any taste but it feels like a home brew. A little Malty, little bitter. Very European.
However… at Total Wine it was in the “Low Gluten Beer” section. I’m not really sure what that means. Is it a gluten free beer? Is it a gluten removed beer? There are no markings on the bottle… which cost $14.99 by the way… so I’m not sure what to recommend to be honest. So far, based on inter web research…it looks like it’s a gluten removed beer at less than 5ppm. Anyone know for sure? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section!
New Grist Gose-Style with Lime

Ok… so I’m not a huge fan of this New Grist Gose Style with Lime. I appreciate that it is a certified gluten free beer. I also really really appreciate their attempt at adding lime; however, it was just too much lime for me. It has a sour bite to it as well. I think with just a little tweaking this could be a remarkable summer gluten free beer. Kind of like a Summer Shandy I used to enjoy so much. So I’m hopeful. I applaud them for stepping out of the box!
Martin City Operation Yoga Pants

Overall taste: 3.5/5
Cost: Gifted from my BFF Gluten free Dave
Purchase location: Kansas City
Website: Operation Yoga Pants
This is the first time I’ve even seen Martin City. My good friend Dave sent me this to try and I really enjoyed it. It tastes like any regular beer we would have had before going gluten free. This would make an excellent tailgate gluten free brew for sure.
I could see myself drinking this on gamely while the Panthers rock Tampa Bay at home! Overall a solid go-to gluten free beer!
Daura Damm (Gluten removed)

I’ve seen Daura Damm beer around a lot on social media, but never got my hands on it. I know it’s controversial in the gluten free beer world because it’s a gluten removed beer, so I never looked too hard for it in stores. Now that I’ve tasted it, I can see why it’s fairly popular. It tastes exactly like I’d expect from a lager. No weird after taste I feel like I might get with a gluten removed beer. This beer would go great with a burger and fries. If you are able to consume gluten removed beers, this is a solid option.
Growing the Gluten Free Beer List
So this is my gluten free beer list! As I stated earlier, it is a living document with my honest opinion. I’ll continue to add beers as I try them.
This list is for all of you! Comment below and let me know what you think. Do you agree? Do you disagree? Is there a gluten free beer out there I must try? Am I missing some critical information you were looking for? Want to buy me a round?!
I know there are tons of gluten free beers out there and I can’t wait to try them. I’ll take any and all feedback so let me know what you think the next one I should try should be! Thanks for stopping by! Drink responsibly, Cheers!

Great list of beers babe! ? ? ?
I’ve never been much of a beer drinker and since being diagnosed gluten intolerant I’ve definitely stayed away. On the other hand, since my diagnosis, I’ve picked up drinking GF hard apple ciders. Yum! As we travel the US it has been fun to sample ciders from all over this country. And what variety!
Thank you for taking the time (and money) to review these for us. Try the ciders after you finish your beer excursion!
Lisa! I agree with you on ciders! When I first went gluten free I transitioned to cider because GF beers were hard to find and too expensive. Thanks for checking out my beer list, if you have any requests let me know. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it! haha
-Lenny
Hey Lenny! I appreciate your list! I’ll have to try some of them for sure. I’m always on the lookout for great tasting beers that I can drink. I was super saddened that I couldn’t have any beer I wanted anymore when I learned that I was sensitive to gluten.
Anyway, one of my goto beers that you can find in most grocery stores that tastes great and that gluten sensitive people can tolerate (I don’t know about Celiac) is Negra Modelo. It’s not advertised that way, but it doesn’t affect me.
Thought I’d share!
Nick, Thanks for dropping a note, that’s good to hear. I’ve seen some other testing that regular Modelo tests well under the PPM count as well. It’s always nice to have some options! Cheers!
-Lenny
Need to review Two Brothers Prairie Path (gluten removed)
I’ll look it up! thanks!!
-Lenny
Need to review Two Brothers Prairie Path (gluten removed)! Delicious golden ale.
Thanks for the list!
awesome!
-Lenny
Great article! Thank you for the information. Just found out I have Celiac, this helps a lot!
Sorry to hear, but happy to help! Let me know if you have any questions or learn something new and drop us line!
-Lenny
All of Mike Hess Brewing in California are gluten reduced–ALL of them. My hubby is seriously gluten sensitive and we drink there regularly. Mike’s wife can’t have wheat. They also have GF foods options at their breweries. Beer can be found all over in stores too.
CJ, Thanks for the heads up. I’ll be on the lookout for these guys!
-Lenny
Need to add Deschutes Lil Squeezey
I agree! Thanks for stopping by!
-Lenny
Omission IPA used to be my favorite.
But, Since the Craft Brew Alliance acquisition by AB-InBev (of which the Widmer Brothers Brewery is a member and owner of Omission) there’s been a complete makeover of Omission’s product lines.
And not for the better…
What was once a smooth and balanced American style IPA, is now a tasteless extremely over carbonated beverage.
Still looking for a reduced gluten replacement in my area. Thanks for your list.
Great insight Michael. I was not aware!
-Lenny
